WCHA Hosts NACA Homeownership Event

The Housing Authority of the County of Wake (WCHA) was pleased to host a NACA Homeownership Event on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the WCHA Administrative Office.

The event brought together over 30 current Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program participants, Housing Choice Voucher participants and others who were interested in learning more about the FSS Program and the path toward financial independence and homeownership.

Participants had the opportunity to learn more about homeownership, financial preparation, and the resources available to help families move toward becoming a homeowner.

"Hosting today's event that promotes self-sufficiency through homeownership is uplifting," said Felts Lewis, WCHA executive director."  To see so many residents here for a four-hour session on a beautiful Saturday afternoon tells me that they truly want more for themselves and their family."

The FSS Program is a five-year (5) program designed to help participating families work toward economic self-sufficiency by connecting them with resources, support, education, and opportunities that can help them achieve their personal and financial goals. For eligible Housing Choice Voucher participants, participation in FSS can be an important step toward building financial stability and working toward the goal of homeownership.

WCHA is proud to support our residents as they work toward greater financial independence and brighter futures. We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success!
