Happy Labor Day
Holidays
Sep 04, 2023
On this date, President Grover Cleveland signed S. 730 into law declaring Labor Day a National Holiday. Since 1882, Labor Day had been celebrated at the local and state level. From 1887 to 1894, 23 states enacted a Labor Day holiday. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America's strength, prosperity, and well-being.
